“Wintervention” – A snowy treat to tame your snowy craves

Written for The Villager
Addicted to snow? Always fiending for that alluring white powder? Well, you’re not the only one. Some crazy skiers and snow boarders do almost anything to get the high that only snow provides.
Within the next two weeks, you will have the chance to see one of two showings of “Wintervention,” a film by Warren Miller Entertainment.
“Narrated by skiing icon Jonny Moseley, Warren Miller’s Wintervention is the definitive solution for the snow-obsessed.  Wintervention takes riders like Chris Davenport, Jonny Moseley and Lindsey Vonn on a global tour of Alaska, Norway, Canada, Antarctica and beyond… delivering a successful Wintervention for all of us in need,” according to Warren Miller Entertainment.
Wintervention will tease you with drops and slopes you’ve been yearning for since the close of ski season, but don’t worry, as Wintervention reminds you, it’s just around the corner.

Wintervention features acute cases of classic snow-addiction from across the globe, showing us that our addictions to snow-covered hills and the experiences we have there are actually good for us—in moderation,” Warren Miller Entertainment said.
Wintervention is Warren Miller’s 61st film, and his most recent one at that.
As part of a local tour, on Nov. 26, Wintervention will be showing at the Reg Lenna Civic Center in Jamestown, N.Y. at 6:15 p.m. Doors will open at 5:30. The Civic Center is home to one of the biggest screens in the Southern Tier, said Nathan Arnone, facilities committee chairman and Reg Lenna Civic Center board president.
For those interested, VIP tickets will be available. They include the film, hors d’oeuvres and beer for before and after the show. Tickets can be bought online or at the door.
If the film alone isn’t enough, there will also be giveaways and different ski shops showing off their new equipment for the 2010-2011 season.
If people can’t stay for the whole thing, don’t worry about it.
“There is no plot,” Arnone said. “The plot is getting to the bottom of the mountain.”
“The movie is broken up in to several segments of epic terrain and phenomenal skiers filmed all around the globe,” Warren Miller Entertainment said.
Then, on Thursday, Dec. 2, as part of the Warren Miller Entertainment’s national tour, “Wintervention” will be shown at Shea’s Performing Arts Center in Buffalo, N.Y. at 7:30 p.m.
Everyone who attends “Wintervention” at Shea’s will receive a $5 lift ticket to Swain, a free lift ticket to Kissing Bridge, a $25 coupon to save on any $100 or more purchase at Dekdebruns Ski Shop and a $25 savings coupon on any purchase of $100 or more for Snowflake Ski Shop, according to Warren Miller Entertainment.
Wherever you choose to watch it, it will be a great way to kick off this year’s ski season.
