Even though summer technically started on the 21st, the summer season really begins with Ellicottville Summer Music Festival. This year’s festival starts on Thursday, June 30th and runs until Sunday, June 3rd, giving you the perfect way to celebrate the holiday weekend.
This music-filled weekend is sure to excite everyone’s musical taste buds. The eclectic mixture coming to Ellicottville will definitely be one to talk about. The genres covered throughout the four-day festival will have all the crowds singing to their favorite songs, maybe even introducing people to some new favorites they’ve never heard before.
“This year, we literally have something for everyone, including families, the over-40 crowd and even younger, edgier audiences,” said Brian McFadden, the Ellicottville Chamber of Commerce president.
The festival weekend starts a day early this year on Thursday as Sudden Urge – Gettin’ Down with Dance & Disco –ushers in the festival from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. as part of the free Ellicottville Gazebo Series. Then on Friday, July 1st, the festival will move down to Holiday Valley’s Main Stage where it will welcome Rusted Root at 8 p.m.
But then on Saturday, July 2nd, the music festival takes on another facet as the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra takes the Main Stage by storm at 7:30 p.m. with the Sounds of Disney – kids from 2 to 92 will be finding something to sing about. However, that’s not all the famous BPO will be playing. In honor of the Fourth of July the next day, the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra will perform “Stars and Stripes Forever.” As if that isn’t enough, a spectacular show of fireworks is choreographed to highlight the every note of Stars and Stripes Forever.
Both of your eyes and ears will get a treat that Saturday.
Sunday, July 3rd, Ellicottville will be overtaken by a hallmark band of the ‘70s and ‘80s with hits such as “That’s the way (I like it),” “(Shake, Shake, Shake) Shake Your Booty” and many other classics people have come to love.
As the headlining performances will be firing up the Holiday Valley Main Stage, the Ellicottville Chamber of Commerce says it’s easier than ever to enjoy these shows. Just buy a ticket, bring your own blankets or chairs to the bottom of the slope and make yourself at home.
Tickets for Rusted Root are $25 and both the tickets for the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra and KC and the Sunshine Band are $35 each. However, if you hurry now and buy the tickets pre-sale, which is available until this Saturday, the 25th, you can save $5 per ticket! Either stop into the Ellicottville Chamber of Commerce or log onto the Chamber’s website: www.ellicottvilleny.com and select the Summer Music Festival under the Events tab. You can also call the Chamber at 1-800-349-9099.
However, that is not all you can get from next weekend’s festivities. About a dozen local artists will be performing throughout the Village at various venues.
The weekend also has a little something to offer you this weekend besides just great music. An Arts and Crafts show will be delighting people from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday on Jefferson Street. Then at 11 a.m. on Sunday, the annual Pet Parade will be wiggling its way through Ellicottville. Wrapping up the day’s festivities before the BPO takes the stage is Ellicottville’s ever-popular Strawberry Festival, said the Chamber.
Ellicottville always has something exciting for you to do, and next weekend will definitely keep you busy with fun, fun, fun! So come and watch all the great performances next weekend with your friends and family. Kick off summer the right way in Ellicottville, N.Y.!
